New tutors welcomed

Three new tutors have been appointed to work at the learndirect centres run by Business Advice Direct (BAD) at Stockport, Ashton and Northern Moor.
Dave Owen, who has recently moved to the Manchester area from Yorkshire, is a former sixth form college tutor and he will now work mainly at the Ashton and Northern Moor centres.
Andrew Berry, from New Mills, is starting his career with his first job as a tutor at Stockport and Ruth Bellord, who will also be based at Stockport, is returning to employment following a year out of work.
BAD has won the contract to deliver 12 learndirect centres across the country and nearly 1,500 learners have already benefited so far this year. BAD also delivers other e-learning solutions, Level 2 NVQ qualifications and traditional training courses. (more…)

Two new tutors have been welcomed at the Sheffield learndirect centre which is run by Business Advice Direct (BAD).
Mark Wilson from Matlock joined the staff three weeks ago and Justin Clover joins the company in early April.
Mark, who specialises in numeracy training, said he was very happy in his new post and enjoying working with learners from Sheffield.

Springing into a new career

Staff at Kettering learndirect, which is run by Business Advice Direct, are delighted that one of their learners has landed a plumb job.
Tutor Val Hehir explained that the female learner studied IT skills at the centre, enabling her to use a word processor and create spreadsheets and databases.
“We are delighted to learn that she has almost immediately landed a new job as co-ordinator of the Anti Coagulant Clinic at Kettering General Hospital,” said Val. “She had done administration before, but it had all been paper-based as she had no computing skills. She felt that following her course with us at Business Advice Direct Kettering that she had the confidence to apply for the post.” (more…)

Staff at Business Advice Direct (BAD) may be ‘bad’ by name but they are good by nature!
BAD delivers learndirect centres at 12 locations across the UK – and the staff also find the time to deliver lifesaving blood supplies as regular donors.
The company’s Financial Controller based at Grimsby is Wendy Key, who is not only a blood donor but on the bone marrow register donor as well.
It was the plight of her friend who required treatment for both breast cancer and leukemia that first prompted Wendy to become a blood donor. (more…)

The CSCS card is the easy way to prove that you are competent in your occupation and have health and safety awareness. It is your ticket into work.

NVQ training on tap!

Expert help is at hand for local businesses keen to upgrade the skills of their workforce.
Business Advice Direct (BAD) offers free National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) training for eligible employees of local companies.
NVQs prove staff members are competent to undertake their jobs. They are based on national standards and can be undertaken by full-time employees or by school and college students with a work placement or part-time job that enables them to develop the appropriate skills. There are no age limits and no special entry requirements.
NVQs are achieved through assessment and training delivered by BAD’s skilled NVQ assessors. The assessors discuss with candidates the work they currently undertake and agree on the standard you are aiming for before selecting activities to help them achieve their goal. (more…)
