Unemployed but looking for work on a building or construction site? You need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
The CSCS card is the easy way to prove that you are competent in your occupation and have health and safety awareness. It is your ticket into work.
Launched more than ten years ago, the card was designed to raise standards in the construction industry and is now recognised throughout the trade. The card is supported by all the major construction organisations and the aim is to have a fully qualified workforce by 2010.
These days major clients often ask contractors to have a CSCS carded workforce and this includes Government, housing associations and the NHS.
Valid for three to five years, the CSCS is the size of a credit card and bears the holder’s photo and unique reference number and can be used as ID as soon as you arrive on site.
Training to qualify for CSCS is available now through Business Advice Direct – and we don’t charge you if you are unemployed. So what’s stopping you?
Call into your local centre and find out the easy steps to gaining your CSCS card. The staff are friendly and approachable and can guide you through the simple process. Once you have the card you will be able to apply for jobs on construction sites anywhere in the country.
