Tutors are doing it for themselves!

LisaFive tutors from Business Advice Direct (BAD), which provides highly successful learndirect centres across the UK, decided to practice what they preach and improve their own skills as well as those of their students!

Lisa Whitehouse, who is a tutor at the Stockport learndirect centre (BAD Stockport), along with Dave Grasham from BAD Lincoln, Adam Rowthorn from BAD Kettering, Tony Goodman from BAD Derby and Monika Mitoraj from BAD Leicester, regularly help their students tackle Level 1 and 2 numeracy courses.

But they decided to study for Adult Numeracy Level 3 specialist support themselves – and have all passed with flying colours! (more…)

New venue for the New Year!

DerbyFollowing enormous success at RTC Business Park, Derby’s learndirect centre has moved to larger premises.

The centre, which is provided by Business Advice Direct (BAD), is now at 1st Floor, St. Peters House, Gower St.

Situated in the city centre – and above Job Centre Plus – the new premises are much larger and more easily accessible, as well as being disabled friendly. (more…)

Maths scholar scoops £20 prize!

Melinda and AdamA student at Kettering learndirect centre scooped £20 of high street vouchers last month in a pre Christmas Prize Draw!

The draw at the centre, which is provided by Business Advice Direct (BAD), was held on 20th December and was open to any learner who re-sat and passed a previously failed literacy or numeracy test. Names of successful students were entered into the draw and a winner selected by centre tutor Adam Rowthorn.

And Melinda Murray-Hill, of Jasmine Road, Kettering, won the prize after beating her fear of maths and passing Level 2 Numeracy! (more…)

Customer Care All Wrapped Up

Michelle and TonyDerby student Michelle Baillion gained an NVQ in Customer Service at her local learndirect centre recently.

Michelle, who works as a receptionist at the RTC Business Centre Derby and for a company called Office Care part time in the afternoons, studied at the centre in Derby which is provided by Business Advice Direct (BAD). She spends her working day dealing with customers and found the NVQ training invaluable.

Her certificate was presented to her by BAD Derby tutor Tony Goodman. (more…)
