Make-over for learner’s career prospects

Forty-nine year old Lynne Elley gave up work nine years ago to look after her mother.
Following her mother’s death she realised that she needed to retrain in order to find work.
‘I needed to reinvent myself!’ said Lynne. ‘I went to the Jobcentre and they referred me to learndirect and I have been attending BAD Lincoln for more than two years. I think I have done every course now and I’m hoping to find work in administration.’
With the ECDL safely under her belt, Lynne is currently a volunteer worker at Lincoln and is grateful for the opportunities the centre has provided.
‘The staff are great and I couldn’t have managed without them,’ she said. ‘As well as providing me with the skills I need to find work, they have also really boosted my confidence. I know now that I’m not as dumb as I thought I was!’
