Stepping out for charity!
Posted on April 22nd, 2008
Training sales executive Jo Lancaster is literally putting her best foot forward to raise money for charity in the Sheffield Half Marathon and Great Fun Run on Saturday (27th April).
Jo, who works for Business Advice Direct – one of the most successful providers of learndirect centres in the country - started running again in January last year after recovering from a broken metatarsal.
‘I have gradually increased my mileage and have done five 10k runs so far and have one planned for every month this year – but this will be my longest run so far and I am really nervous!’ she said.
But Jo, who lives in Chesterfield, has two incentives – raising money for Alzheimer’s and Stroke victims and planning to run the London Marathon next year.
‘I will be applying for the London Marathon next year and will hopefully get in as it will be my 40th next year – a real milestone!’ she said.
Over 5000 entries have been received for the 13.5 Sheffield Half Marathon so far which beats last year’s final figure of 4516.
